I am new to a vehicle with roof racks. However, I am familiar with the use of roof racks with crossbars. One of the TSE I am looking at getting comes with the adventure package and I was wondering what people carry on the roof platform. Those that have it - do you remove it when not in use? I was looking forward to the moon roof and not seeing something covering it.

Great question. I unfortunately don't have an answer but hopefully someone else will chime in!

The OEM roof rack does not cover the front moon or sun roof. It ends at the back edge of it. It does cover the back portion of the moon roof when you open it all the way to the back so the back seat passengers will have a slightly obsurced view with nothing on it and obviously with items on it, the view will be blocked entirely.
I have carried ice chest, golf clubs and basic luggage on it. Oh and trust me, you do not want to think about removing it. This is held in place by 12 bolts which are all torqued to strict specifications.
