It is easy to see the differences between the interior and exterior of the 2025 and 2026 Passport Trailsports. I have not been able to find the differences between the AWD systems and how those systems perform on dirt roads and in the snow, 2 things I do frequently. Hoping all of you can help me out as I downsize from a 2016 Pilot to a Passport. There are some great deals on 2025's but I would love to know if I'm giving up anything in performance, other than 5 less HP in the 2025. Thank you all!
2025 vs 2026 AWD systems, off road, snow performance

Hello ZDK,
I think I can help. In my opinion you WOULD be giving up performance in terms of the AWD system's perfrormance by going with the 2025 instead of the new 2026. In terms of acceleration, the 2025 is almost 1 second quicker 0-60 due to it being 500lbs lighter. The 2026 is a bigger vehicle and has a lot of steel skid plates underneath which has increased the weight. The AWD system on the 26 is superior. I purchased mine about two months ago and researched it extensively before buying. I am coming from a 2017 Ridgeline RTL. It had a great AWD system, but this one is even better. The drive modes are improved and the ability of the system to move power around is also improved. If warranted, now up to 70% of the power can be sent to the rear and 100% of THAT can be sent to one wheel if the other is slipping. No other AWD systen can do this to this extent except ACURA. So I guess it depends what you value more. If you want more acceleration then then 2025 is the way to go and you will probably get a good deal on it. n every other category, AWD performance, cargo capacity, ride, rear leg room, and looks ( subjective ) the 26 wins hands down. I am so looking forward to the snow in Northern Arizona this year and to see how all of our passports do in it.
Then your decision may come down to outward appearance. Honestly until this past Labor Day seeing a Honda commercial with the sunset orange passport. These SUV’s weren’t even on my radar. My wife and I have been driving Toyota Highlanders my 2008 and her 2019 which I love. But I was due a new ride and had been looking at the 4Runners. After Labor Day weekend I test drove a 2026 Passport and the hunt for a new SUV was over. It’s worth paying a bit more for the newer passport. Here’s my Auburn sunset orange passport
