2026 Passport TSE - Stock Tires (General Grabber) in Winter Conditions

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone of you can share their experiences with the stock tires (General Grabber AT Sport) in winter conditions. I am in the greater Detroit area...so usually we do not have tons of snow...but it is cold.

Unfortunately the stock tires do not have the "3 Peaks" symbol but "M+S" only...but I am not sure if this is reason enough to buy new tires (with just 1,200 miles driven so far).

Any ideas / recommendations / experiences?

I don’t know. Some forums say the grabbers aren’t very good in the snow and I’ve seen a couple post say they are pretty good. I’m going to leave mine on this winter. The cost of new tires and wheels will probably be around $1500. Then I have to store the wheels that I’m not using.

I have those tires..General Grabber AT Sport and do not see on the tire where it says M+S.

First snow with the trailsport here in MN. Only about 1inch but icy too. Good traction getting going with the grabbers. Definitely some slipping when stopping and turning on icy spots. ABS did a good job. Probably fine for the first year, but 3 peak or better yet winter tires will definitely do better. The three peak tires I want don't come in the stock size. Hoping there are more options next year.

Just picked mine up two days ago. Love it. Drove in a light covering of snow sleet. Handled well but I wasn’t going fast except for the highway but they salt and brine here well in NJ. I will look closer at my tires with pics and report back….

When we had the first snow last weekend, I was on the road in the Metro Detroit area. Before I696 was salted it was pretty slippery….so I had to go super slow….however…I assume that even with 3-Peak Tires, ice and slush on the street make you go slow in order to be safe.

Also, I assumed that I had 3-Peak All-Season tires on my previous cars (Grand Cherokee, Grand Wagoneer)…but I was wrong. Also “just” M+S (stock) tires….so, I will continue to give it a try this winter.

There are many different winter driving scenarios. Im on the west side and had first drive in winter weather this week. Early snow, no ice or hard pack underneath and not slushy slop. The tire performed great for me in this. Much better then my previous, Nissan Armada with bridgestone deuler.
I think they will perform just as well in slushy/slop. Will have to see how well it does on hard pack/icy roads.

i live in Chicago and we got 12 inches of snow in my town. I had great traction. No sliding no grip problems.

I’m just across the bridge over in Windsor Ontario and I just took it on a seven hour up north road trip into the heart of snowy and icy conditions in Algonquin Park. It performed beautifully. Despite driving over tons of fresh snow and ice, I had no slip edge or scary moments. I definitely will not be changing out for winter tires after this experience. The stock tires performed beautifully!

Thank you for your post. I was worried that I might have issues in the N. Jersey mountains. Heading even more north to ski country soon.

Also from Canada and just experienced driving my new TS during a major blizzard. Very impressed with the grip and tracking of the Grabbers. Was thinking of getting snows but I think I will stick with the stock Grabbers.

You were right. Drove in snow storm this past weekend and up a snow covered incline (5 inches) with no problem in “Snow” mode. Gonna keep those tires too.
