Hello,
The 2026 Passport Trailsport has got me back into a Honda. I haven’t owned a Honda since I sold my 1991 Honda Civic hatchback back in 2001. The Civic was a good inexpensive, reliable transportation for a kid just out of college. As I aged and my funds improved, my tastes changed to rwd sports sedans. For the next 25 years I owned a verity of European and Japanese sports sedans, plus I’ve always own a pickup of one make or another for my hauling needs over the years.
In early 2023, my wife decided she rather drive a sports utility vehicle instead of a sedan. We bought a European compact SUV. It was sporty with a nice leather interior but as it neared the end of its warranty period, we decided it was best to trade it in.
To be honest, Honda was not on my radar. Honda’s SUVs in my mind were boring and for non-car people. After looking at what other manufacturers were offering and not liking the direction many manufacturers have taken. Turbo 4 cylinders, hybrids, large tv screens for dashboards
, and way to much tech, I was starting to look into older models. Then out of the blue, my wife said, “let’s go to Honda and see what they have.”
I was thinking, this will be a waist of time. Well, they had two TrailSport Passports on the lot. When I saw it, I was thinking that looks good for a Honda.
Long story short, after test driving both, we ended up buying a base TrailSport. I wanted the one with the least amount of tech.
So far I’m liking it a lot. Not a corner carver for sure, but as I enter into my golden years, I’m enjoying the softer “off-road” suspension more than a stiff suspension these days.
