Technically not a modification but looking for some feedback/recommendations on a hitch mounted carrier for hauling venison and or additional cargo. I’ll take the good the bad and the ugly.

There are quite a few people here with hitches, hopefully they'll chime in. Keep in mind there is a button to click when you have something you are towing so the car doesn't alarm when you try to reverse from the trailer. Put it into tow mode.

Still learning about the modes and what they are and when to use. All part of the game. The vehicle can handle a good size doe but any buck would be a challenge so hitch rack seems best alternative.

mostly to el chorizo or anyone who knows, what button do you hit when something is on hitch? I load up a bike every so often and when I back up it acts weird and doesn't like it!

Gotta put it into tow mode!

Tow mode turns off the auto-brake when reversing with a trailer.
It's a little annoying that you have to put it in tow mode each time you stop and restart the vehicle, such as after getting gas or stopping at a rest area.

Lots of good intel coming out but does anyone have thoughts or recommendations for a hitch carrier/rack? The original topic?

if you are looking for recommendations, go Curt or shop a few at etrailer.com that suit the weight rating you would want; all I can say is stay away from the $60 haulmaster things with the aggresively bendy neck, you'll be very disappointed once hitting any bump with any bit of weight. Otherwise they all mostly follow the same design

Gotta put it into tow mode!

tow mode bypasses the official answer in the manual where...the setting to turn it off is buried in a few different submenus...rather than right there when you tap reverse; and just like others have mentioned, it resets at each time you startup the vehicle
