HPE mileage performance

I absolutely love my new 2026 HPE SUV. I’ve had it less than a month and it’s probably the best auto I’ve owned. And I had a 2006 BMW 330i (stick shift) I loved. That being said I’m underwhelmed with the gas mileage.

The 2026 Honda Passport has a fuel tank capacity of **18.5 gallons** across all trim levels, including the RTL and TrailSport variants. Estimated driving range of around 370–389 miles depending on the trim's EPA-rated fuel economy (e.g., 19/25/21 mpg city/highway/combined for RTL; 18/23/20 mpg for TrailSport).

I’ve yet to receive those mileage numbers. Granted I drive a bit harder. And I probably drive too much in Sport mode. I know I’m easily averaging in the mid teens. Am I alone in this underwhelming gas mileage performance or have other 2026 Passport drivers noticed this performance.

To be fair I’ve yet to drive my HPE on a long road trip so I have no test drive knowledge of extended highway driving mileage.

How many miles do you have on on your vehicle? It takes a while for the motor to break in fully and the MPG will go up a bit once it is fully broken in.

Thank you that is what I’ve been learning. I just passed 500 miles. Had it for 4 weeks.

Yeah, that's not nearly enough! Wait until you have a couple thousand... should get better. It's barely broken in right now The rings haven't fully seated.

mine does well on the highway, 24-26 mpg... Not so good in the city 11 to 13 mpg

At first I thought my mileage sucked but I too have a heavy foot. I’m getting around 20.4 MPG and I can live with that for what, and how, I’m driving. Even pulling an enclosed trailer it’s not too bad as long as I put it in economy mode on the interstate

I live in southern Vermont with a lot of hills, and I'm getting mostly 25+ with normal driving

My highway mileage has become much better now that I have around 2k on it. Getting 24 in eco mode.

I bought my Passport Trailsport back in March. I have about 8K miles on it. I live in Michigan in the country and I don't do much (but I do some) city driving. I have not reset my tripmeter since I picked it up in March, and yes once you have a few thousand mile on it you will get better gas milage. I typically set my cruise around 75 on the freeway. I don't use the Eco mode since I haven't really found it helps much. I plan on keeping it for several years so I don't beat on it. So with that stated, according to the Passport AVG MPG I am averaging 22.5 MPG.
