Trying to justify buying one because I am a 72 year old widow driving a Lexus RX350 right now. It’s just me so it’s probably not a very smart purchase but I sure do like it.

Have to do what makes us happy... sometimes I call it Retail Therapy! Welcome to the site @Wanda

I turned 64 this year when I bought one. It may very well be my last new vehicle since if maintained and taken care of properly, it should last for many years, maybe the rest of my life with probably little to no issues. So to me it comes primarily down to affordability (apparently the new in-word these days). Can you buy one and still live the life you want comfortably. If you can then perhaps. Now if buying one could put you in undue financial strain on your budget taking funds away from other necessities, then maybe not such a good idea. I expect your Lexus is still doing well and may suite your needs for some time yet if need be. Speaking for myself I look at it as, I like it a lot, It's a good reliable vehicle, I'm not getting any younger, I have far fewer days ahead of me then behind, and as the saying goes you can't take it with you. That's my opinion anyway. If I wasn't making the kind of money I am and financially in good shape, maybe I wouldn't have bought one. It's a matter of wants, needs, budgeting and livability, short term and long term. If you can fairly easily afford one with little impact to long term plans, great it's only money, if not. Then probably shouldn't.

Welcome to the forum Wanda! What model Trailsport are you considering? (CRV/Passport)?

Hi Wanda, Get it. You won’t regret it. I am 60 and got mine but I am very active and in great health. I had my Pilot for 15 years with 230K miles and ran great. It would have lasted over 300k miles but it got totaled in an accident so I had to get something else. Love mine.

I just turned 70. I traded in my low-mileage 2016 Honda Pilot for the Sunset Orange 2026 Passport Trailsport Elite on Halloween 2025. No regrets whatsoever. It's interesting that the people that I've encountered in parking lots who praise the Passport are older. One even stated "that has the V-6 doesn't it?". I said "Yes, probably the last vehicle that Honda will use it in." "That's a shame" he said.

Well. Guess what. My wife and I are both 72 and in Oct we traded in a beautiful, amazing condition 2019 Ford Ranger Lariat. We loved the look of it, and were impressed with its specific AWD transmission capabilities. We loved it. Depending on how kept, it too may be our last new vehicle. It is pearl white and beautiful. We want to enjoy it as long as possible.
