🚙 Accessory MVP (Most Valuable Parts)

We have been researching the more expensive accessories and modifications. Since I cannot afford them all right now at least, I thought I would generate a discussion about what accessories people have and how useful they find them to be. So, feel free to chime in with what you have and your assessment of it. I would like to avoid discussing things like floor mats. I am on board that those are useful to help protect the carpet and the cargo area.

My start is with the Roof Platform. Since I have owned Jeep Wranglers for years, I believe my platforms and baskets were handy for strapping on odd ball items as well as throwing dirty items up on top verses putting them inside. I recently purchased one and installed it.

I have the table/shelf. Personally disappointed in the deck height. With the shelf in the upper position the under shelf space isn't very tall. For example a standard paper grocery bag would not fit standing up with the shelf up.

I will be designing a riser for the table to get another 1-2 inches of space. It's is sturdy. Currently my Australian Shepard likes to sleep on it when it's up.

If you come up with a riser design, please share the idea. Look at if it can be high enough that you can open the floor hatch to access the storage area.
We stopped by a dealer who had 15% off coupons and they actually had one in stock. A salesman showed us one of their PPs with it installed. We bought one. We have the cargo barrier, so we think it is useful to stack lighter 'go bags', towels, blankets, coolers and things on top. Our heavier suitcases slide in underneath it. I like that you can just drop it to the floor when not in use.

We (really me) decided to buy the cargo shelf/table. We got it for a discount. Well made, lots of options to position it. Someone mentioned the height in the upper level position. I wish it was about 2 or 3 inches taller from the floor to the table. This would allow free access to the under floor storage. I will install the OEM cargo barrier soon and that will greatly increase the flexibility. We can put suitcases underneath it so that the upper level is useable for items you want immediate/easy access to. The toilet paper roll illustrates the height.

my passport came with the roof cargo rack, this thing is bombproof and the real deal although I probably will never use it. but I did want to share a website called jsport, they make some really cool off road stuff like foglight and skid plates, I used them before, honda actually installed their lift on my Ridgeline, good company.

Im wondering if you have experience any snow where you live and what it’s like to clean snow off the roof when you have cargo rack installed

I live by the beach, no snow here, but I could see snow turning into one big ice cube with this thing!

No snow. But I have lived in it before. You'd have to spend a little time brushing it out of there. The slats are pretty far apart. I would not have it just to have it. We mounted it, through stuff up there and took our first trip recently.

We added the OEM tube step running boards. Easy to do, feel sturdy and very light weight. They are very useable when you open the doors, especially for loading the roof platform. An improvement suggestion would be to square off the rear section more to create more useable step towards the rear wheel. On the car the symmetrical tube design looks good though.

I LOVE my 2026 Passport. But, I felt it just needed to sit a little higher to suit me. Installed JSport's 1.5" lift and now I think it sits just right and still drives 100% solid. Best all around ride I've ever owned. The folks at JSport liked my before/after shots and put them on their site. Wow. Nice people.

Looks like it's ready to tackle some off-road terrain! Do they recommend aligning it after the lift installation?

I am sitting on two estimates for a lift. Both shops recommend a lift. I think JSport and HRG both say you need an alignment. The only thing that I don't see is if and how you can adjust your computer if you change your tire size.

I had to push my mechanic to put it on the alignment machine because it was "tracking perfectly" after the lift. But, sure enough, when they checked it on the machine it was out and had to be realigned.

By the way, I wouldn't consider anything more than "soft off roading" in a vehicle this expensive. Snow? Yes. Unpaved roads? Yes. Fun rocky well-driven trails? Yes. But deep mud? Ugh. No. Boulders? No. Anything steep enough to get sideways or tip backwards and roll? Nope. Etc. If I wanted to do that stuff I'd buy a Jeep-like vehicle I could get for around $10K or less, trick it out and take any real risks in that.

That's just my *opinion*. I'm not judging anyone who feels differently.

That said, with this lift I got a surprisingly tangible driver height increase, more ground clearance, (especially helpful for deep snow or for the occasional need to get in and out of a difficult spot when doing photography) and also, what I felt was the proper stance. Those are somewhat off-road considerations. But, that was all I wanted.

From what I've seen in some of the other Passport haunts, not a whole lot taller at all. It's funny about pictures. You have a whole different experience standing next to the truck with the stock tires than pictures would make you think. I think that has to do with the size and height of the truck. I think the stock tires fit just about right , even with the lift -- although that's only one man's opinion.

It's really tempting to put spacers, too, isn't it? But, I'm reluctant to mess with Honda's precision engineering. The only reason I felt comfortable doing JSport's lift was their collaboration with HRC.

That's a really good question. Also, how much will you feel the loss in torque and horsepower?

All my experience in this is with Wranglers so my expectation is that you will not be able to put on a modification that significantly moves a needle in any direction. My wife wants to do this, and I am fine with a 1.5 lift because it looks good and of course gets the body up a little more.
My practical side says you lift to get a taller tire and therefor get more ground clearance. So, I am thinking a 265 65 R18 is about a 2% (1/2 inch) change in diameter but not width. This will probably avoid rubbing. It might not be enough to throw the speedo off more than a few mph. Those with real world examples could chime in with their efforts.
