I picked up my 2026 Passport Trailsport on 8/4/25 and so far it runs great. The only issue I have had, is after about three weeks, I began receiving an error message stating, "System Updates Unavailable. See Your Dealer". No one seems to know what to do about this. I did some research and found that the new Passport has a sophisticated wifi capable system that allows the vehicle to download software updates directly via wifi making it unnecessary to go to the dealer to have them do it. I am trying to figure out however, how to get the vehicle to do it. As far as I can tell, this has nothing to to with apple CarPlay. That is a stand alone system and all updates to that occur on your iPhone. The SYSTEM UPDATES for the vehicle must go through the android / google system. I activated the personal hotspot on my iPhone and connected the vehicle to that wifi network. I also enabled automatic updates for the vehicle in the settings. So far no updates have come through and the error message still comes up. Anyone have a similar experience? If so were you able to resolve it and how? Thanks in advance.

Haven't seen that error yet, hopefully someone else can chime in.

Everyone who tries to update will get that message, because as the error message says there are no updates available yet. The dealers can't do anything because there are no updates available. It's not really an "error message" it's more "info message"

Thank you for your reply, but I first got that error message, before I ever turned on automatic updates and automatic downloads and before I ever connected my passport to my iPhone's hotspot. For the first three weeks I owned the Passport, prior to receiving this message, all I ever used was Apple Car Play, so I don't know how the system would have even tried to seek an update only to be told none are available.

Could be built in as a failsafe for important OTA updates that would require a recall otherwise. They should probably make the error message more informative though so no one think it's a more serious issue :(

You can try to factory reset the infotainment system and see if it fixes it. I think you just hold the home button for a few seconds and then it gives you options like safe mode.

There is an update that the dealer has to push through, due to an error. After that, updates 'should' download over the air as intended. Just had mine done at the dealer.

Any idea what the update fixed or included?
