Honda was slow to roll out their accessories last year so I did a DIY inside full size spare tire mount. (With the 2nd row seats folded there is plenty of room for gear when traveling. If you need the 2nd row for kids or other passengers you may need to look for a hitch mount carrier. With the inside mount it is nice not having the spare bouncing around outside and interfering with rear hatch or hitch access.)
Process details for the inside mount:
The Honda plastic storage tray where the spare is located does not have a fully supported bottom so I reinforce the tray with plywood to bridge across the multiple plastic support feet. (I had an old floor mat that I cut and stapled to the bare wood for a more finished look.) Then I mounted a pair of wheel chocks to the plywood to cradle the spare making sure that the spare would be centered between the PP tie down anchors. I used soft ties around the wheel and tire to a shackle, adding a 2” ring for the 1-1/2”x 6-1/2’ ratchet tie down strap to pass through and attached the end hooks to the PP tie downs. I cut foam spacers from a yoga block to keep the spare vertical when secured tightly in place. I had to cut/hem the back of the wheel cover for it to fit properly and to leave the back of the wheel accessible for storing a portable air compressor, jump box, etc. (no use wasting space). Everything can be removed in a couple of minutes if needed.
I used about $120 worth of material in all for the mount and have another $153 in the wheel & tire (used tire off eBay for $50 shipped and wheel from Wheels Express for $83 shipped plus $20 to have mounted and balanced).
