Just joined the group. I’m in Maryland… I got my Passport Trailsport Elite about a week ago. I said goodbye to my 2011 C6 Corvette Gran Sport to get my Passport. No regrets, it’s a fantastic SUV, and I’m totally digging it.

Welcome to the forum! That's a significant change in vehicles! What do you think about the power of the Passport for daily driving? I know it's not a sports car, but since you came from a Corvette, I'm curious about your thoughts on the performance of the Passport.

I think the power feels quite good for daily driving, particularly in “Sport” mode. “Normal” mode is pretty decent overall, but I think a little slow to respond from a dead stop. Honda probably gets less transmission issues this way. Perhaps it’s still learning my driving habits. I think the responsiveness in “Normal” mode is pretty good on the highway, although there are certain situations it has felt very sluggish hunting for a downshift gear.

I’d say the power delivery is similar, but a little quicker and torquier than the 2010 Toyota 4Runner I used to own for about 170k miles. The 4Runner was a 4.0L V6 4 speed automatic. I think the 10 speed transmission and AWD of the PassPort increases and broadens the torque band in comparison. It’s pretty decent for a 3.5L V6 pushing 4000 lbs around. The 4Runner suspension was a little bit stiffer than the PassPort, where the Passport is softer and more forgiving. The Passport is more comfortable and stable over bumps, but feels a little more floaty on the highway, and has a little more body roll and nose dive than I recall from the 4Runner. So some tradeoffs, but somewhere down the road I’ll probably find some stiffer, or progressive rate springs, possibly lowering the rear a little.

The PassPort vs. the Corvette… apples and oranges… but I’m really happy with the PassPort, Honda did a great job blending an on road priority over off road.
